A Division of Labour

This blog is going into temporary hiatus tomorrow. Michelle and I are going to a fairly remote island for a ten-day break, with a few extra days on either side in slow transit. They don’t have the internet anywhere near it. I’ll be back about October 3, hopefully not to a cupboard full of spam.

As with any holiday, a certain degree of planning is required. Accordingly we have drawn up a division of labour so that we know exactly who is responsible for what while we are away, and nothing gets left undone. I think you’ll agree, it’s fairly thorough.

Steve’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing the luggage
  • Keeping the bungalow clean and tidy
  • Cooking, and organizing food and supplies
  • Negotiating with local people about entrance fees, costs of transport etc.
  • Applying sunscreen
  • Giving massages
  • Exercising
  • Waiting patiently when not in use
  • Fishing (recreational)

Michelle’s duties are:

  • Napping
  • Reading
  • Looking at the sunset
  • Eating
  • Drinking
  • Lying in the hammock
  • Sunbathing
  • Swimming
  • Snorkeling
  • Yoga
  • Receiving massages
  • Having orgasms

As you can see Michelle has a few more responsibilities than I do, but it was impossible to get things exactly even. Instead the tasks were grouped according to aptitude.

Anyway, both of us will be enjoying life in the next week and a half. And that is what it’s for, right?
